"The ICBM reached an altitude of about 6,100 kilometers (3,790 miles) at Mach 22, or 22 times the speed of sound, according to the JCS, which said details were being analyzed by intelligence authorities in South Korea and the US."

Mach 22 is over 16.000 miles per hour.

It is faster than any US missile. Why cant USA compete anymore?

If continued at this rate, North Korea by 2040 will have 100 times stronger military than US.
Then it will invade South Korea while US will be too scared and weak to start a nuclear war and will just let North Korea take South.

North Korean missiles also have range of over 15.000km.

Meanwhile, US minuteman only has 10.000km range.

I wonder if USA can actually step up its game.

They dont need much luck. North Korean missiles are the best in the world and can hit any target on Kim's command.

To be fair.

I doubt that Kim is foolish enough to think that DPRK could win and survive a global nuclear conflict.

I suppose what we should worry about is if his paranoia were to ever get the better of him.

Paranoia is the downside of isolationism.

Since North Korean missiles are faster than anything you have, I am afraid that you wont be able to hit North Korea before North Korea hits you.

It takes much more than 5 minutes to reach North Korea.

It takes much more than 5 minutes to reach North Korea.
Not from a submarine in Nampo port, and not from South Korea, and the little prick knows it.  You can underestimate the US Military all you want, Kim Jong-Un better not if he wants there to be a country called North Korea.

The speed of North Korea missiles is 16.000 miles per hour.

So over 200 miles per minute.

Not to mention the fact that if North Korea attacks you, it wont fire just 1 missile. It will fire thousands of missiles and millions of artillery shells within a minute.

South Korea, Japan and most of US would be wiped out.

You wouldnt even have time to react. By the time you realize you are being attacked, North Korean missiles would reach their target.

But it doesn't take 5 minutes to launch a missile.

Who's got the quickest missiles is largely irrelevant.

Unless you can guarantee to shoot down every incoming missile.

Once they're on their way that's it,

You're fucked.

USA also cant shoot its missiles faster than North Korea can, unless USA fires first.

If North Korea shoots 10 missiles at USA, 9 would hit their targets. 1 nuke would explode in high altitude creating radar noise which effectively neutralizes entire US radar system for several minutes. Then the remaining 9 would rain on US cities.

If North Korea presses the button, there is literally nothing US can do.

Yes, North Korea would be destroyed too. But US would lose so much territory and so much allies.

This is the entire point of North Korean regime: To show how powerful it is.

Your scientists lead the world in the discovery of Unicorn Lairs too, but hey, with Kim Jong Un driving at age three, they had help looking for that Unicorn Lair.  And don't forget, of all country leaders, Kim Jong Un also has the record for most relatives murdered.

I'm just glad Kim Jong Il invented the hamburger and got 38 under par with eleven "hole in ones" in a single round of Golf, N Korea is very impressive country, the whole world believes these things.
