For all the dummies on this site who watch FOX News or worse and think they are getting informed.

A democracy is a system of government. A republic is a state.

So, a republic is a state (country) that has a democratic form of government. Get it?

de·moc·ra·cy
/dəˈmäkrəsē/
noun
a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.

re·pub·lic
/rəˈpəblik/
noun
a state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives, and which has an elected or nominated president rather than a monarch.

USA is a union of 50 sovereign states. Not a union of a mob of people who just happen to live in 50 states.

So to you, Saudi is not a state or even nation?

Your definition of 'state' is very biased.

To everyone with a brain, it’s a Kingdom, dummy.
Your definition of 'state' is very biased.
A republic is a state. Not all states (countries) are republics. These are not “my” definitions.

That's interesting.

So, how do you define republic?

No

The same way everyone else does. I mean everyone with a brain.

Okay, interesting.

So, any who define it differently lack a brain, including the alternative definitions available?

Such is the power of words.

Nonetheless:

Populus with a governmental establishment, defined by borders.

Some are freer and fairer than others.

Doesn't matter what you refer to them as.

Such is human nature, that Anarchy never really got off the ground.

Nice. Especially considering that the terms "Republic" and "Democracy" are references to forms of government, not the State in and of itself.

No, they’re not. That’s the point of this post.

A republic is a country that has a democracy as it’s government.

No it is not, your definition is biased and flawed.

A Republic guarantees its citizens rights, that isallghere is to define it. This is why North Korea is known as DPRK. Republic is basically any country that guarantees rights in a formal constitution of sorts.

The alternative is the sort of intermingled constitution woven within laws such as seen in UK, Saudi, Kenya etc.

Ironically, Ireland and France (countries beside UK, physically) were pioneers of what a Republic is. China and Iran are republics, ironic as it may seem.

You're arguing on behalf of the most inconsequential lexical nuance.

Now you’ve got it. You just admitted that a Republic is a country.

That’s why you see the word used in the name of so many countries like the ones you just listed.

Yeah, even ones that are barely democratic at all.

Democracies such as the UK and Kenya are not republics due to lack of strictly laid out constitution.
