More importantly,
- Rhodes is a US Army paratrooper and
- a Yale lawyer
- who was a long time staffer for Ron Paul and maintains close ties to the Paul family
Rhodes goes on trial this month for seditious conspiracy against the US govt for his activities on Jan 6th. Specifically, Rhodes commanded several well-armed "Quick Reaction Forces" including one on a boat in the Potomac, waiting to deliver caches of semi-automatic weaponry, body armor, etc to the coup attempt, although at who's command - Trump, Stone, Flynn, or even Paul is unclear.
In March, the Dept of Justice revealed that Trump's personal lawyer, Sidney Powell was surreptitiously funding the legal defense of all 12 oath keepers charged with sedition and was in control of at least $15 million in funds towards that defense. The fund is listed as a Nevada non-profit although the IRS has never approved any non-profit status for the Oathkeepers.
Trump has refused comment on why his lawyer is paying for the defense of conspirators when on Jan 6th, he advised "If you broke the law, you're going to jail."
It seems natural to assume that if Trump were not funneling a bunch of cash to Rhodes, Rhodes would be far more likely to say who he was taking orders from on Jan 6th.
