Yes, there Is evidence that a planet in our solar system was destroyed. An asteroid that slammed into the Sudan desert on Oct. 7, 2008, shot out lots of little space rocks holding a precious secret: diamonds that likely formed billions of years ago inside the embryo of a now-decimated planet.
That lost planet was the size of Mercury or perhaps Mars, researchers now say.

Personal views on NASA aside, it may be a good movie if you're into emotionally gripping somewhat sci-fi tales.

To me, it seems over the top sadness and even over the top bullshit from the politicians and media, all of it seems too exaggerated but to each their own.
