here is my first piece of evidence. The Afghanistan military frequently raped little boys and members of the American military were informed to just turn a blind eye. But its not always obvious to staff in the room that the mike was down

Military men being unethical cowards, of course complied by allowing the rape of children.

American troops protected poppy fields so more of the heroin producing plant could make it's way to America. The taliban has promised to put an end to poppy growing https://www.wsj.com/articles/taliban-afghanistan-heroin-ban-opium-production-11630181316

And who is it that the heroin trade was done by and for?

Not the US, I can tell you that much.

What is true, however, is that the US helped the Taliban grow in the first place as well as Al Qaeda. This was due to Islamic fudamentalists and Sharia culture loathing Communism as much as the US did at the time. The US promised AQ and Taliban that they'd remain long-term allies if they did the dirty work for the US in USSR and such. They did and then the US ditched them, snitched out their leaders and locations to the governments of the nations they operated in and made permanent enemies of two organisations that helped them securely win the Cold War.

it did provide them needed profits, but the last time they ruled they cut poppy fields production by 2/3. Which is why the United States had support from poppy field growers, who helped them against the taliban, and opium production sky rocketed after poppy farmers became safe from the taliban.

You're right though. Al queida and the Taliban were created by the CIa and their terrorism is mostly avoidable blow back. If you look at the causes of blow back "action" than it is simple to conclude that if you remove the cause, than the results will be eliminated.

Not even in the slightest bit due to their ethics. It just has become more difficult over time to do it because the Pakistani Government wisened up to the tunnels and methods they're using.

Taliban are scum. Pure, fascist scum. The only thing that they are probably doing better now than previously is the current leadership have seen from mistakes of their predecessors that being impulsive and short-term ruthless isn't the way to last as an organisation. They are going to be more patient and calculating, radicalising Afghanistan one step at a time until they inevitably begin beef with Pakistan. I will be curious to see if Pakistan sees India or the Taliban as the lesser evil when inevitably they need to apologise and beg one of the two for help. I hope it's India. It would help if Pakistan sides with India as Taliban is siding with China and China dominating Asia will be devastating.

I think Wylted wins as the holder of the highest ratio of opinion to fact of any poster on DART.

Well, its not like the Taliban doesn't also rape a lot of boys.  It's true that the Taliban sometimes puts some men to death for raping boys but it should not be inferred that therefore the Taliban rapes fewer boys because most reports indicate the opposite:  the Taliban is more traditional and more Pashtun and the practice of Bacha Bazi goes back to the MIddle Ages in Pashtun cultures.  By all accounts the Taliban rapes more boys than the prior regime, who did also rape boys.

It is true that the Taliban will make poppy growing illegal but the Taliban has also been the number one producer of Heroin for the last 15 years and US intelligence doesn't expect that to stop.  Like boy rape, the Taliban makes certain practices illegal but generally to reserve those practices for themselves.

Some U.N. and U.S. officials worry Afghanistan's slide into chaos is creating conditions for even higher illicit opiate production, a potential boon to the Taliban.

"The Taliban have counted on the Afghan opium trade as one of their main sources of income," Cesar Gudes, the head of the Kabul office of the U.N. Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC), told Reuters. "More production brings drugs with a cheaper and more attractive price, and therefore a wider accessibility."

And so presumably a lot of Afghan fighting paedophiles and uniform fetishists are blind in one eye.

And Mike was always down in a room with the obvious staff.

You just couldn't make it up.

That doesn't make sense. You are saying the taliban simultaneously rapes little boys while also putting fags to death for also raping little boys.

Also the last time the taliban was in charge, Afghanistan poppy exports dropped to 1/3 the level they were before they were in charge.

True.

But you gave me plenty to work with.

Sometimes a bit of punctuation wouldn't go amiss.

Yes.  Rape is, in fact, far more commonplace in conservative societies where the penalties for such conduct are also harsher.  Look at the Catholic Church- spent billions opposing gay marriage while raping the altar boys.  I remember a reporter saying that there's no gay rapier place in the world than a religious school in Mecca.  The core of the Taliban comes from similar schools in Northern Pakistan.  It may not make much sense but it is nevertheless true- specifically and universally.   You can't shut women out of your society and also expect there to be no boy rape. If you want to end pedophilia, support feminism.

Also the last time the taliban was in charge, Afghanistan poppy exports dropped to 1/3 the level they were before they were in charge.
This is true but then the Taliban ran out of resources in 2006 and decided to make money the traditional way.  Taliban did outlaw poppy production during their reign in the late 90's and also clearly overlooked some illegal production in some areas.  They have already outlawed opium again but opium is also the Taliban's number one export- they couldn't survive without it.  The UN expects that poppy production will actually increase under the Taliban now.  This is the doublethink of totalitarian regimes- rape is illegal but also popular.  Opium is popular, even necessary but also illegal.  In other words, if you want to do this thing, you will have to pay the Taliban and the Taliban reserves the right to kill you for it.   As with most of conservative law, the point of the law is to illustrate who's on top.
