Or should we educate our Eagles , in the benefits of Quorn. (Other vegetable protein substitutes are available).

And would an Eagle be able to tell the difference?

Would depend upon the sauce I suppose.

Seriously though....Do any vegans out there, keep an Eagle or a Dog.

My Dog loves Quorn.....Any sauce will do......Though dogs are seemingly, always desperately omnivorous.

What about Lions?.....Would they eat Go-Cat?

It's okay to feed pets meat as a vegan, however eagles are not demostic creatures.

@RatMan

I have a falconer friend, no Eagles though. But I have seen several trained Eagles.

Nonetheless the question was  meant to be mildly satirical.

So vegans approve of carnivorous behaviour?

In the past, especially in colder climates, the answer is no.

At present, if you consider the vitamins and supplements we can either take or have knowledge to balance out the diet in other ways to compensate for the lack of meat, milk+eggs and fish, you are wrong. (the answer is yes now).

If the excuse isn't nutrition but that you like the taste or that your parents insist on it and you don't want to be alienated at family events or in daily life if you live with them then that's your burden to bear (or mine or anyone's who says it). Don't make false excuses.

@RatMan

What do you mean , when you say false excuses?

I'm not seeking to excuse or justify anything.

I'm just questioning contradictory ethics, or selective morality.

If you are not seeking to justify your eating and usage the fruits of of animal-suffering and death, then what is this thread about exactly?

Do you know someone with an eagle?  Do you really give your dog no meat at all?

@ RM
I actually prefer demostic, but it cannot mean tamed. Sounds more sinister. No, maybe not. Is it a person who demonstrates? Good word; needs a good meaning. Just checked my OED. It is not currently a word.

That is almost, but not quite the condition of humans. There are at least two needed proteins [some nutritionists call them essential] the body cannot manufacture, and whose source is exclusively from flesh. Veggie-sourced proteins can substitute, but not as efficiently as meat protein. Humans are, by design, omnivores.

See above.

And:
The fruits of animal suffering and death.
A veritable plea to the emotions. Though have you ever compared the life and death of a domesticated farm animal, to the harsh reality of it's natural cousins life and death?

Yes....And It's not uncommon for Eagles to be kept and trained for hunting and falconry displays.....Another issue perhaps?

My dog is fed a meat based diet.....And my diet is considered and well balanced, including a small amount of meat and fish.

I'm a conditioned realist and don't easily succumb to trendy social pressures and emotional pleas.

You are conditioned yet you deny you are susceptible to outside influence... How were you condotioned then?

Everyone is conditioned, but also susceptible to influence.

Conditioning is how we acquire, process and store data, particularly in our formative years.

As we get older we are less susceptible to change....Though that isn't to say that we cannot make deliberate changes to lifestyle.

Nonetheless, learned values and habits tend not to alter.

Chimps also prefer meat when they can get it. They love rending smaller monkeys.

Also, when you die, your body will be consumed by microscopic carnivores, even if you are a vegan.

True.

Veganism is make believe.

And vegans are as selectively moral, as the carnivore is.
