China has 3 famous curses to warn their children.

  • May you live in interesting times.
  • May you be recognized by people in high places (sometimes also reported as: May you attract the attention of the government)
  • May you find what you’re looking for.
Americans are continuously beset with problems from not heeding these curses.

Most Americans want to live in a world where all their needs and wants are fulfilled, not understanding that it would inevitably lead to mass suicide and violence from purposeless lives.

Consider this experiment in a Utopian society void of any meaningful purpose for life.


This experiment was repeated with many other species of animals always with the same result.

A society that has everything is populated with people that have no hope for a better future.

A population with no hope has no reason to procreate and make a family.

Something to consider as America continues to struggle with drug addiction, obesity, and a lack of ambition, creating conflict just to stave off the inevitable mass suicides.

And it's already known from Darwin's studies that species need stressors to learn and grow and evolve. The reason why humans became smarter than chimps is because the chimps kicked humans out of the forest.


The unintended consequence of Utopia...is extinction.

Utopia is perhaps non-organic.

And China is only China when viewed from the Earth.

Viewed from elsewhere it is the same speck of cosmic dust.


But of course Americans have GOD on their side......Smile.



And China is as much a victim of it's own success, as The USA is.

Though China still has the advantage of millions of people with a bowl of rice and a uniform mentality.

I admire much more, stoic Russian  indifference.

Actually, China used to aim precisely for a life where all are fulfilled. It did so by embracing Taoism. Instead, it moved away from Taoism towards Confucianism (which is much more materialistic and stoic). The major issue with this newer mentality and approach was (and is) that people with very little feel shit.

There are still Taoists in Japan, they exist as hermits and villagers, as well as Buddhidts of a similar approach and ethos that exist predominantly as villagers also or Shaolin monks. The rate of suicide amongst them is nearly 0%, whereas the rate of suicide amongst the materialistic Confucianists and atheists is much higher.

"If you fall seven times, get up 8"  is a Spanish proverb that is popular everywhere. There is also "God helps those who help themselves." Lots of  nuggets of wisdom from cultures all over the world, that are not necessarily superior. 

How does China  create a  better outcome or livelihood  for its citizens living there today? It would be fair to say we should adopt different policies from many places, while leaving other ones behind.

It is 100% a Japanese proverb. It refers to "Nanakorobi, yaoki" which was an ancient saying amongst the Samurai which the Ninja also picked up in their training mantra. The idea being not just to persevere but that even if you're guaranteed to lose, you stand up and take it like a champ because staying laying down and being defeated anyway isn't worth any respect or value in Japanese culture.

The Spanish never had such a saying until after World War 2 where a lot more about Japanese culture was discovered by the Europeans.

So it is a Spanish proverb that originated in Japan. Good to know, but I am more interested in learning how China creates  a better outcome or livelihood  for its citizens living there today.

It doesn't. The citizens in China are scared and oppressed, worked to death without any compensation even if
they lose a limb due to terrible factory safety conditions.

The fact this place calls itself left-wing and thinks it's not a corporatist dictatorship is the most absurd aspect of its politics.

Who knows what purpose might or might not lie beyond today and your fears.


The future is bright, but the future might not necessarily be American....or Chinese for that matter.

In a few thousand years, MAYBE fit Humans can be selected to exist in a Utopian world. The current genes will NOT allow it though. Not without an extinction event as shown with the mice experiment.

Good video though about how genes change over a million years.

100% correct.  It happens to large countries/empires with supposed unlimited wealth. Boomers were the first to grow up with this wealth and based their economic policy on their childhood experiences. The problem is, there is no real infinite wealth.

Example with Rome.

If you want, I will challenge you to a Rated debate on this, so that it's actually worth the effort to me in some shape or form.

You too often troll your way out of situations with me on the forums.

Chinese citizens commit suicide at a rate that isn't even known because they are like 'dirt' to the government there, they don't record all suicides at all and all stats from China are censored.

I have no clue what you're even trying to suggest either, since both Chinese and American culture has a huge amount of dissatisfaction among the populace.

It's a genetic vestigial trait of a fit species that survived a millennia of strife. Genes are not changing anywhere near as fast as technology.

We have essentially the same genes as a caveman with the same genetic impulses and instincts.

(IFF) your hypothesis is correct (THEN) why don't most lazy trust-fund kids just kill themselves?

I mean, they're set-for-life.

They don't need to work for their food.
