It seems that some Indian teacher found this site and wants to make their students debate each other about various topics, focusing mostly on police brutality but also some other ideas. What do you guys think? I hope they’re here to stay.
Massive surge of new users?!

Sounds awesome.
Let's make sure they feel properly challenged.
They are more likely Pakistani, Afghanistani or Iraqi... Possibly Egyptian.
The way they're spelling the names is the biggest factor in determining this. If they are Indian, they are from a very specific Muslim-heavy caste (caste system isn't used anymore but the groups still exist, ethnically within India).
They could be a group of Syrian refugees also, however the family name Rahman isn't common there at all.
I wonder if a school classroom got exposed to the website or something.

This may have been an early precursor.
I'd say this is a good thing, new horizons and all that
I see an increase on the forum, but in debate, the number of participant members has been in the high 300s for some length of time.
I've just realized my error. Member counts on debate do not count, I don't think, until debates are complete. Y'all are right, the debate status has grown

I really hope that's what it is, as opposed to certain other possibilities. I actually first got into these sites in a similar way.
