How many people here are DDO refugees? I am but IDK who else is.

I am
I am not a refugee of DDO, I am an exile of DDO who enjoyed watching its demise personally.
That being said, I did come here due to DDO's downfall and was a regular user there so perhaps you can argue I am a legal immigrant from DDO who didn't demand refugee status.
I'd have survived just fine had this site not been created, let's put it like that (refugees are defined as having little else to do but run to your nation for salvation).
I'm glad this site popped up. I'm seeing some people like Danielle again that i haven't seen a post from in awhile until very recently on DDO in the hangout thread. That we're getting old guard members trickling in is solid AF news.

Plus we get ur crazy ass back again, which is kewl beans to me đź‘Ś
I came here via DDO.
I was a returned, active member for a fair few months until the most recent spam attack. You just seem to deny that I was back.
I do agree that it is good to have me back but I do not see myself as crazy, just unpredictable. The reason I am a madman is my temperament and ability to shock any and all allies at any time in any situation in real life or online, I spend very little effort on explaining myself to others or on asking permission, I spend a lot more effort on being sure that the punishment for doing what I do is minimised and that what I do is the ultimately right decision and so I see myself as a rational madman.

I didn't notice you were back. It was hard with the spam xD, plus i was infrequent in visits to the site. So my b for not noticingÂ

I lurked for a while but stopped participating bc the quality of the site nosedived. Glad to be back now though.
I saw Yassine's posts on DDO. I thought about making a new username and such but decided to at least start with my old name and picture. I'll probably make a decision on which route to go in the next few hours, but I felt I should claim my username in the short term. But this is a breath of fresh air, almost.Â

Me. Have hardly been active at all on DDO but this site gives me lots of hope. Really hope it can be much more like the site I joined 4 years ago. Cheers to debateart.com's future.
I wouldn't call myself a refugee. I kinda faded away from DDO as it degraded — that and IRL isn't the kindest to me either, so even if my interest hadn't dwindled, I would not have had the time to be online and active in the last few months.
It's nice to see some old faces again though :^)Â

Wow. Some people seem to be taking this as a sign that things will turn completely around for DDO. I'm glad to see airmax touch base, but I'm feeling kind of skeptical that DDO will totally bounce back from this. Plus there are more reasons to stay here than just spam protection.

@Castin
I don't know which way this is going to go, but I think this site has a lot of upward potential, and DDO is still having trouble getting anything together.
Like, before the spam got to its extreme, Airmax asked me to run a debate tournament. There was simply no appetite in the community to read a debate and vote, and there was no apparent interest in mentors for a beginner's tournament. The only thing I could do is wait until there was interest, but then DDO turned into spam hell.
There's simply no community structure there anymore. If there's any movement to create some again, I'll be spending some time there, but I this site has more forward momentum at the moment.

No argument here. Things did seem to be dwindling on DDO even before the spam apocalypse. I can't deny that it's more exciting to be part of a site that's on the way up than to be part of a site that's on the way down.
Also if I went back to my DDO account I'd have to spell my username with an E again. The horror.
Would I be considered a DDO refugee if I still have an open account there?

I'm one too. DDO has been turned into a wasteland of spam and closed accounts.Â
