Add an "other" option for gender

I interact only with people's minds on the internet, so I only want to know about your mind, not your body.

The only time I even think about the physical sex of a member is when I suspect some troll of pretending to be the opposite gender for kicks, like when I'm wondering whether this is a man pretending to be a hot promiscuous young woman. 

But when a trans person marks down a gender contrary to their sex, they're just being honest about who they are. When a lying troll marks down a gender contrary to their sex, they're being dishonest about who they are.

 Occam said zay wouldn't feel excluded if you just cut it out.  Personally, I think it would be just peachy to be able to have "it doesn't matter" and Occam needs to grow a pair.

But the average user of this site is so much more often male that randomised 50/50 is going to offend many users being assumed female whereas the reverse is less offensive.

For now the superior outcome of "no information" being default has solved the dilemma.

But some people use facebook.

There was a time back in the day when it was very commonly believed that anyone who puts personal information on the internet was an idiot. 

Now it is the norm.

Times have changed, boy I tell ya.

A random order within a drop down box, does nothing to assume anything; it is outright breaking away from assumptions.

But in the case where the majority are one and not the other (in this case male) it is going to increase the rate of failure of the default matching that of the user.

Ikr. My grandma used to scare me with stories of young girls who gave their address out online and got murdered. Now an individual's online personal information is just a drop in the ocean.

I still don't do Facebook. Which I've been very glad of, given recent news.

Twitter and Instagram are worse than Facebook in all ways if we are talking corruption and/or politically-fuelled censorship (although Twitter does it for the 'opposite team of politicians' that Facebook does it for). 

there are only two genders ask any scientist of biology. The fact that someone wants to pretend they are not male or female does not trump all of science. pretend you aren't male or female on your own time by yourself. The only person you are fooling is yourself anyway. Yep politically incorrect as hell and don't care. the truth is the truth. You live in denial of absolute science to say otherwise.

These days more and more people have a problem with androcentrism, so even men are more likely to get their feelings hurt by the usual default, than by the pain of making a selection one line down from their usual.

I don't see that what 'we' enjoy wearing is relevant to both  your question and the topic.  Gender is assigned normatively.  

When was the normative decided and by whom?

I see you that don't have a problem with the word enjoy. Isn't enjoy indicative of something other than gender?

Where do you think mankind is heading with it's new multi-gender trend?

Perhaps this is evolution in progress.

I´m all for an ¨other¨ option, but there are a lot of gender pronouns. Maybe it´s best that we just leave it at that. 

This site has the fucking right to say whatever gender it wants, it could even have the gender 'faggot' and 'alpha' as male variants. that's absolutely within its rights because it's self-given not other giving the abuse or sexist compliment.

You can make up any word and use it to represent anything you want it to .

But you can't alter reality. 

You cannot alter my altering of reality being reality.

At any given moment, reality is what it is.

Wrong, reality is also what is currently 'not' especially if you consider moments in time compared with one another.
