I am going to try to add the debates list to the profile info and it may take some time, probably 2-3 evenings, maybe even more, so please don't get scared by the absence of the daily updates.

Yeah surely, but I am afraid not any time soon because it would be quite some work to do it properly
Gotcha.
Btw, if I knew more about IT, I wouldn't be asking you about anything I knew would be a large or complicated effort. Just stuff I knew would be doable in the short term. Unfortunately I don't know, so forgive my ignorance.

Oh please, don't worry about it :)
Is there a way to change my email and other information? Looks like you can only change the password

I am afraid at this point it's possible to change only the password. If you need to change your email, I could do it manually, just PM me. It's a temporary solution but the only one we got so far ...

It would be cool to have a "like" option on the forum posts. No "dislike" bc that would be kinda mean. But, having a "like" can save people from writing "agree "or something like that on the posts.

Agreed. I recently added the "likes" for the debate comments and at some point will add them to the forum posts as well :)

That's awesome thanks for you engagement with members that is really cool. One other thing i just noticed, when you get a notification of a reply to your post or mention.. it doesn't take you to the new post when you click on it. That would make it easier to find the comment that replied to you.

I have an idea for the private messages.
Instead of having the 'enter' key send the message, it should just start a new paragraph as usual, kinda like how it is on DDO. There's already the paper plane icon to send messages and I sometimes find myself accidentally sending a message that is incomplete when I intended to start a new paragraph.
Another idea: currently, there's a pencil icon for forum posts that have been edited. A good idea may be allowing users to click on that pencil icon to reveal the message that was posted prior to the editing of it.

@SamStevens
I believe RM brought up pretty much the same subject at some point. The idea was to add a checkbox that would change the way you send messages or create a new paragraph. So at the moment, you use "enter" for sending and "shift + enter" for creating a new paragraph but with that checkbox, that'd be up for a change by every user :) I'll get to that at some point but not even soon I am afraid.
I am afraid the way it currently works is that there is no previous message saved in the database after it's been changed and if it was, then it would make sense to be able to see some kinda "diff" between the posts, like you can on StackOverflow but it's a lot of work and not too critical at the moment. But once we're done with the core, we will start exploring more fancy things, including this one :)

Btw, regarding the PM chat, I am thinking about making it "full screen", so not showing the office sidebar when you are there, just the chat. Do you think it's a good idea? And obviously I'll make it real time, probably in a couple of weeks or less.

Sounds good :)
Yeah, it is one of the more 'finer things' in life and could wait once the rest of the site comes together.

hm, a full screen without the sidebar seems pretty interesting. Having given it much thought until now.

Yeah, I think it can be quite interesting. I am worried about consistency though because all other pages will stay as they are now, which is probably not a good design thing ... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Mike, in the notifications list, it shows a time stamp in addition to the thread title you were mentioned in. Maybe you could make that time stamp a link to the new post, just like in the forum list?

I'm here from Debate.org (a failing site getting bombarded with Indian sex hotline and football betting spam lel) and I was very active in the "Polls" section.
For those of you who don't know, it's essentially multiple choice questions about a wide variety of topics (who'd be a better president, is feminism beneficial, etc).
I loved the idea and it was a great little fun-on-the-side kind of thing when waiting for an opponent to post their debate round, or a way to just get more involved in the community. We had some pretty heated arguments at times back when debate.org was popular and had people from the far sides of the political spectrum.
I haven't done anything at all on this site but so far it's incredibly smoother and well organized than debate.org and I have a feeling if things pick up here and debates aren't the only thing to do, it could be something great. I love the interface too.
Also, a "add friend" instead of "favourite" option could be good, but meh.
Thanks and looking forward to being a part of this thing.

I can promise you the sidebar is a huge 'good' thing you do not want to take away, if you really actually want your site to become an alternative to almost any social media that people would use to 'chit chat' you're gonna want the sidebar to help enable chatting to many people at once. I do understand this will be what happens in your 'chat' tab but I guarantee you dropping the sidebar is the wrong move while making it live is the right one.
If you can keep the sidebar AND make it live, this will be optimal.
New changes
Added debates information to the profile pages and fixed some minor bugs.

I've had some severe food poisoning last night and I feel like crap, so I'll check the other threads and answer questions some time later when I feel better, thanks for understanding.

Obvious suggestion no one has said yet:
Forum signatures.

Someone's probably mentioned this before, but I noticed that if I log onto the site on a different device, it logs me out of the first one. Since I switch between mobile and my laptop frequently it's causing me to keep re-logging in each time. It's pretty annoying..would be nice to be rid of.

Hi and welcome!
I am not sure about the polls section, if to be honest. If we're gonna implement something like this, I imagine it's not gonna be exactly what they have on DDO. I have a few ideas how to improve it and we'll discuss it when time comes :)

I will try to add "friends" functionality rather soon but I think "favorites" and "friends" are going to be different things anyway :)
Hopefully you'll enjoy it here :)

Oh I am afraid you misunderstood the sidebar that I meant. I didn't mean the chat sidebar, which shows you all the people you have chats with but the office one, the one that has bunch of links to activities, favorites, debates and etc.
And the chat will be live, that's for sure

We'll need to think on this one, I don't really like those huge signatures that people sometimes create and which take too much attention and space. But maybe it's just me, I don't know. Anyway, we'll discuss it a bit later and I'll get to it.

Not sure if it has been said yet, but the ability to skip to the last post of a thread from the main forum screen is a nice convenience.

@drafterman
Click on the 'seconds ago' type thing that appears beneath the last poster's name.
New changes:
Added forum topics information on the profile page.

@DebateArt.com
I don't know if anyone has said this yet, but votes should also probably be viewable from the profile page along with debates and topics. Forum posts would be nice too, but votes more so.
I'm most eagerly awaiting a proper quote system, mention links that take me directly to the mention rather than the first thread page, and a notification dropdown list. But I know all that has already been talked over and is on the bulletin board.
On the topic of signatures, big sigs annoy me to. Just put a font size limit on it. And don't allow images in signatures, if you ever at some point implement image posting.
