I searched up debating sites and DART was not anywhere near the top. DebateIsland barely gives a chance for the instigator to respond on what is mostly "change my mind" posts, and it's excruciatingly difficult to create and access actual debates on the site. Kailo is fine, but limited to students + teacher community. And Debate hub is ... okay theoretically, but the layout is so mundane and even sorting by votes gets error lol.
why is this site not promoted more?

Because there's only a little more than 400 members on DART, some of whom are banned and many of whom are inactive. That being said, when I searched "debating sites" on DuckDuckGo, DART was number 8, so we've at least made it to the first page.
DI is alright tbh, the others are nowhere near DART in quality.

Eight out of how many though? seems like kind of a narrow niche.

Eight out of ten on the first page.
Google really seems to dislike DART, though. Which is unfortunate
depends on search engine
“A small circle of experts is better than a Large circle of toxic trash” -said the DArt user to other debating websites.
To be honest, I have no idea why Google hates us. Our position in Bing and Yandex is good but in Google it's terrible. I even optimized most pages to be mobile-friendly to make Google happy but that still didn't help. At this point my best guess is that Google doesn't like that we don't have enough incoming links to DART, i.e. there are almost no websites, expect for DOD, where you can find links to DART. So if you guys have Facebook or Twitter pages, or participate in other forums or anything like that, feel free to create some links here and there to some good debates on DART, that could help us ;)
