I am invited to a bbq next month, and i need an idea of a side dish to bring. If I can't think of anything else, i will bring fruit salad. I am looking for vegetarian or vegan options.

This might be obvious but coleslaw? maybe find a good recipe online, because nobody makes it good lol. Potato salad, or even a salad. Beans, grilled corn.....whatever you do bring that fruit salad too.

We boil ours with some salt and onions. Saute the onions in the pan. Once tender add the water and salt. Once it's boiling add the kale for 20 minutes for so or until tender. Drain. I don't like spinach but love the kale.

tbh whenever I visit friends I bring components of a dip and cheese platter, which also consists of these thin, spicy bread sticks that come from Greek cuisine. It's a very Melbournian thing to do though so I'm not sure if such a finicky plate would suite your event.

Corn on the Cob, Potato Salad, Cole Slaw are all hits at BBQ's generally. If you wanna try something out of the ordinary cook up some collard greens. It's prepared like cabbage, but a much leafier green than cabbage.

So just leave the onions in the pan after they're sautéed and boil it altogether with the kale?

Cool thanks, I've yet to cook kale, is it better than say..collard greens? my grandma was old school, she'd make us some kale, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes with tomatoes and fried hotdogs lol!

Not a sauerkraut fan but man that sounds good. Never had collard greens, I like most greens.  I don't like spinach but I like kale and I have eaten dandelions before. We do green beans with onion and potato in the crock pot. Yummy.

You can use what you like but I prefer the little red ones. They get less mushy.

You may need to copy paste that link to get to the video but why take a regular fruit salad when you could do this!

Collard Greens to cabbage is like the difference between romaine and iceberg lettuce. Loaded with more nutrients basically
