What does it mean when users' names are crossed out?

It means they are banned. We have an official ban log if you want to know why a user was banned. https://www.debateart.com/forum/topics/2305/site-official-ban-log

Bans by request are a thing. Can you explain possible reasonings for that and why you would even participate in that?

I have no idea what you are talking about. A ban by request means that a user PM'd us asking for their account to be deleted. We don't go out and willy nilly ban someone because the mod team requested it.

I think Wylted is reffering to the fact that some people have a specific reason for requesting a ban and inquiring as to whether you might elaborate upon their reasons for making the request.

@Wylted
I don’t generally pry into those reasons. Usually, though, people volunteer that they no longer want the temptation of being on the site, and are seeking a definitive end to their accounts.

How does it feels to now be the moderator of a community you have been a huge part of for so long?

Honestly, I don't really know how to answer that question. There are emotions tied up with being a mod, emotions tied up with being a long-term member of this community, and both of those sets of emotions feel pretty disconnected. I think, if anything, being a part of this community gives me an incentive to log on each day and do my job well, because I care, but beyond that, I'm not sure.
