@3RU7AL
I wouldn’t too much, he’s trolling you.

Its the standard tactic of misrepresent, strawman, and be generally deceptive about what he’s talking about, for the purposes of trying to make you spend all of your time correcting the multiple inaccuracies and misrepresentations in his argument.

If you pay attention, he hasn’t really offered any actual argument against what Socialism really is, he’s simply intentionally misrepresenting it to make you sound like you’re defending it: when in reality, he’s just a knob that cant really defend his beliefs.

Its much better to just launch into a defence of what Democratic Socialism actually means, and actually is.

Hell, about 4 posts before he launched into his nonsensical referencing to social justice and social interventionism, he spent some time actually talking positively about social justice and social interventionism.

Oh, excuse me, try this.

There are valid objections to "social democracy", but simply conflating all forms of "socialism" with "Venezuela" gets you nowhere because literally nobody is arguing in favor of your "Venezuela" straw-man.

You might be right about that. Even Chris Cuomo raked AOC over the coals over the question of how to pay for her new green deals.

Let's pray there is no support for that.

AOC just needs to tell everyone Mexico will pay for the green new deal, and if history has shown me anything, it is that conservatives will fall right in line and not ask any complicated questions about funding.

Jake Tapper may be looking for a job soon if he keeps pissing the rabid left crowd off with these hit pieces.

People don't say that, they say all sorts of things about you none of them as vitriolic or hateful as what you say but everyone realises that you are the last person to be condescending. We know what an abysmally poor opinion you have of yourself and it's well deserved.

Seems similar to Norway where businesses are privately owned and not managed by the government while the poor are taxed at 40% for many government services.

I don't think there is a single politician in any party advocating for a 40% tax on the poor.

Denmark also has no minimum wage, so they have a big advantage over the USA.

No required minimum wage. Bargaining between employer associations and employee unions determines wages. Average minimum wage is approximately DKK110 ($18) per hour. Denmark's minimum wage was last changed in 1-Jan-2015. [LINK]

There is no legally mandated minimum wage in Denmark. Danes are against the idea that the government would set minimum wages. Some other developed countries like Sweden, Norway and Switzerland do not have any minimum or maximum wage.

Are you suggesting that there are invisible Danes making $1 an hour somewhere?  How exactly is this "no minimum wage" a "big advantage" if the effective (de facto) minimum wage is $16 to $18 dollars an hour?

Capitalism works because the hardest workers rise to the top and the one make the poor choices sink to the bottom, then ensuring success for those who earn it.

The best critique of free market capitalism is the 1971 movie McCabe & Mrs. Miller.  [LINK]

I think it's hysterical that the Baby Boomers have become what they fought against in the 60's. The biggest group of hypocrites in the history of the planet.

The story is about an arch-typical "self-made-man" who gambles and invests and outmaneuvers his local competitors.

He builds a sustainable network of businesses in a small town with a lot of growth potential.

Until one day when a sharply dressed business man from "back east" offers to purchase his assets.

It's not about "getting shot".  It's about getting eaten (steamrolled/railroaded) by a bigger fish.

Instead of healthy competition we have the pretense of choice. Small business only survives because big business cannot work out a way to do the job that they do. Once they do work out then small business is destroyed. And by small business what I really mean is entire industries, hardware once consisted of small family run stores, now big business runs the hardware business. Competition has been destroyed and if anyone wants to compete, then all they need is a spare $1 billion dollars.

Do you have a spare $1 billion dollars? If not how do you compete? The answer is you cannot, big business is destroying small business and it is going to cost us all a lot of money.

You make it sound like a bad thing. I actually enjoy shopping at Walmart. It's way cheaper than the mom and pop shops I grew up with, plus it has the stuff I want.

Your link shows that government non-competition regulations on small businesses are the same thing as holding a gun to your head in your movie.
Crony Capitalism is a system where by both Government and the financial markets protect big business. Government protects it by regulations, these regulations are an annoyance to big business but they help to keep small business under control because they often cannot comply with the regulations.

You don't need a billion dollars to compete. Just offer me more than Walmart gives me.

Facing a mercenary militia hired by millionaire coal barons, the miners took pains to become organized, adopting a uniform that featured a red bandanna worn around the neck. The miners nicknamed themselves “rednecks” as a point of solidarity. [LINK]

Got any kewl anecdotes from the 21st century? I mean history is fun but not very relevant to many things today.

Did you know people would use leeches for headaches?

Like, how would Walmart today be allowed by the government to form a mercenary militia? That hasn't happened since 1861.
