At 9:45 AM, Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church, announced the death of Pope Francis from the Casa Santa Marta with these words:

"Dearest brothers and sisters, with deep sorrow I must announce the death of our Holy Father Francis. At 7:35 this morning, the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the house of the Father. His entire life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and of His Church. He taught us to live the values of the Gospel with fidelity, courage, and universal love, especially in favor of the poorest and most marginalized.

With immense gratitude for his example as a true disciple of the Lord Jesus, we commend the soul of Pope Francis to the infinite merciful love of the One and Triune God."

Well, the Devil did send his Vice-Devil to visit him the day before.

This is a time of reverence, not personal attack, no matter to whom, and which is always, always a lost argument. The last argument. Though not a Catholic, I appreciate the the Bishop of Rome, by whatever name is his, and personally mourn the loss of Francis. Have a proper heart today, at least.

GreatSun, Ra, - thank you for your posts today top start this string. Properly reverent and appropriate in this open forum. At least for some of us.

I liked Pope Francis. I am very sorry that he is gone, and I am kinda afraid who will replace him. Not that he can be truly replaced.

I admire the People's Pope. Pope Francis was seen as taking a more progressive stance on LGBTQ+ issues during his papacy. He famously said, "Who am I to judge?" in reference to gay individuals seeking the Lord, and he also stated that homosexuality is not a crime. He also approved blessings for same-sex couples and urged the inclusion of transgender people in the life of the church.

He was very smart to follow Jesus's true words, as they were written, such as "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone", and "Do not judge, or you will be judged too".

Pope declared:"And if at times our efforts and works seem to fail and not produce fruit, we need to remember that we are followers of Jesus Christ and his life, humanly speaking, ended in failure, the failure of the cross."

Ironically, great part of catholics, very conservative catholics, disliked this pope because of that.

I don't like his political posture, he's very lefty like you, but I agree with him about the inclusion of everyone.

The Popes ministry lasted 12 years. Jesus’s ministry only lasted 3 years before he was crucified. Be grateful.
