I know we have a thread for book recommendations, but IDK if we have one for TV/ movies, so I’ll just put this here.

Season 2 finale of “Severance” on Apple TV came out today, and I won’t spoil anything, but you a seriously need to watch it. It geared towards a lot of the smart people on this site. Also I want someone to talk to about it, because no one I know watches it.

I dont really get a lot of time to watch movies and shows with so much stuff I have to do every day, but here is a simple list:

Just about my whole family's been watching Severance, and it's pretty good IMO. It leans a bit too hard into the "mystery box" storytelling convention popularized by Lost, and random plot beats that probably won't go anywhere, but who knows. Maybe one day we'll find out what's up with the goats and whatnot.

There's a lot of interesting characters, moreso the innies than the outies. I hate how dark tinted everything outside the overly bright severed floor is. Presumably there's some symbolism behind it, but I don't know if it fits since there's no hard evidence the outside world is a dystopia. I'm also confused about when this is supposed to take place, with the company's 19th century origins and strange blend of inexplicably analog and outright impossible technologies suggesting alternate history as much as a plain future setting. I've got maybe 4 episodes left of Season 2 but I hope Irving and Cobel aren't off the show for good.

Gonna try not to spoil anything, but I will say that they do a better job closing plot ends than you think.

Also, yeah there is a ton of symbolism with the severed floor being bright. It’s because the company’s name is literally “Lumon”, and you’ll understand the reason for that more once you finish season two.

The Quran strongly states that Jesus was not crucified or killed, but instead God raised him unto Himself. There is no statement in the Quran more explicit, emphatic and uncompromising in rejecting the dogma of a faith than this.
The holy Quran in its unique style denounces the crucifixion of Prophet Jesus, in Chapter 4 (Surah al-Nisa). Almighty Allah does so, along with the reasons why the Jews were reproached by Allah, as follows:
“And because of their saying: We killed Messiah, Jesus; son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah, but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but it appeared so to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts. They have no (certain) knowledge, they follow nothing but conjecture. For, surely they killed him not. But Allah raised him up unto Himself. And Allah is Ever All-Powerful, All-Wise.” [4:157-158]

Yes, the Quran denies that Jesus was physically crucified. One key verse 4:157 states that those who claimed to have killed Jesus did not actually kill him or crucify him, but rather, someone who resembled him was made to appear like that to them. The majority view in Islam is that Jesus was not crucified, but was raised to heaven by God
