Republicans presented a compromise bill to deport rapists and democrats shoot down the bill. The bill just barely managed to get passed but why do democrats like rapists?

I think the conversation went something like this.

Republicans- can we at least deport the ones that are rapists

Democrats- no, we like rapists

Not all, Trump's a rapist and they don't like him.

I didn't say you like all rapists but it's weird to think that migrant rapists should hold a privileged position in society

It's even weirder to think that half the country voted for a rapist for POTUS.

To clear things up for you, I actually read the bill, and it covers more than just rape. It covers all sexual offenses (which, to be fair, you probably could have guessed), child neglect/abuse/abandonment, and stalking. While I am not in favor of any of those, it allows deportations from convictions, meaning that there’s a high possibility that innocent people could be deported. If I may remind you, the president-elect has many convictions himself, so it seems a little goofy to say that we should deport migrants for the exact same thing.

The alternative was complete destruction of the country so not an easy choice

If somebody is convicted up rape it takes a jury of 12, a unanimous conviction and proof beyond a reasonable doubt. Most of these are not politicized cases where the lawyers and judges are doing underhanded things for political revenge. I would say if you find a politicized case than that person should be the exception to the deportation rule.

Somehow, I feel the reverse is true. If most convicted people were innocent, violent people would feel very safe here.

Egg on my face, I mixed up being charged with being convicted. That’s a little better, but I still find it stupid that we feel the need to have a far more severe punishment for migrants than we would for natives who commit a crime. They already commit less crimes than us, why are we trying so hard to paint them as rapist criminals who also do drugs?

Also, Wylted, why on earth would you consider DJT’s case to be rigged because it’s politicized and not think about the effect that people’s political opinions could have on a migrant on trial for any crime ever? Half of conservatives would deport them for shoplifting.

Yeah, yeah, you already told me, only a dictator can save us from the evil that is American, Americans are the enemy, the government is the enemy, the Constitution is the enemy, deep state is our enemy, LGBTQ is our enemy, people of color are our enemy, eggs are $3 a dozen, immigrants are eating our pets, blah blah blah.  Got it.

Of course a Fascist Dictator is allowed to rape and pillage, I mean, c'mon, that's kind of the whole point of Fascist Dictatorship.

Once they obtain citizenship status, deportation should be off the table. I think what's being discussed here is non citizens and they are guests. I think it's fair to say that guests should not come into your house and start shutting up the place

The point remains that if people want to come here, they do not come to disrupt our society AND they do it with proper channels.  If an American citizen were convicted and we had the option to deport them somewhere else, I would choose that too.  We don't like violent criminals in our neighborhoods.

I think the argument is more along the lines: of do we want to fund prisons and court costs for people who were never invited to stay here (illegal invaders). Additionally, deportation isn't necessarily a punishment if they can avoid jail time.

If a government leader had a dual agenda to keep the streets safe and cut government costs, this would be a logical first step.

There are plenty of people in both parties preferable to the dark years of Biden/Harris.  Did you support any of them?

Or did you just nod along when MSM said Biden was the sharpest and most brilliant president we have ever had in the history of presidents?

No worries! It was a simple oversight.
