Just a personal tradition,
Make a goal to accomplish during the new year,
in 2025, I'll make a resolution to read one book a month.

Should be accomplishable.

Same as every day, just with few glasses of wine.

Wine in moderation improves brain 😁

Thanks to book summary apps, I read 2 to 3 books a day. Well, at least the key points.

Book summaries can be good.
Sometimes I'm more interested in a paragraph explanation of an idea, than having to read the idea laid out over a thousand pages.

Book summaries enable you to gain more ideas in shorter time. Basically, it takes 15 minutes to listen to one book summary, or about 5 minutes to read summary and get all key points if you read fast.

So maximum 15 minutes to get key points.

Reading one whole book can take days.

Besides, best ideas of each book are usually mentioned in summary, while less important ones are left out.

So with book summary, you get best ideas from each book and you get over 200x more books in same amount of time.

True,
But I think repetition can add to retention,
By spending 'time on a book, one thinks back to earlier ideas in earlier chapters as they read.

Additionally the ideas in a book are sometimes posed in different ways and explanations.

Lastly the difference between experiencing directly vs learning 'of.
It doesn't seem likely that certain events 'hit a person the same if they read the cliff notes version, vs reading the event in the book.
There is less. . . 'poetry, less 'immersion in the cliff notes.

Well, sure, but it depends which books you read.

When I read books which are about debating, or improving intelligence, the summaries are useful since you get more important information faster.

However, if I were to read a good story, then I would prefer a whole book.

Like, summary of Harry Potter books simply cannot be as good as the whole books.

Hard to experience Harry Potter without reading the book.

My family tends to have a meal of cheese fondue with an assortment of food to dip with.
We’ll also watch some movies and enjoy each other’s company

Summary Apps you recommend?
You can use any, but I use these:

Fountain (app made by Fabulous)

Headway

Booksnap

Blinkist

12 minutes

Wiser

Librius

All of these apps give you at least 1 free book per day. Just when setting up, they let you choose categories. If you choose different categories in each app, each app will give you different books. These apps often have same  books in same categories.

Wife always does this.." Americans eat black-eyed peas for New Year's to bring about good fortune in the coming year.
But that's the short answer. The long one involves a shared family tradition that celebrates the legume's prosperous legacy in Africa and the Americas. ...

....."They're gonna be savory," he said. "They're gonna — definitely gonna — go over white rice."
The chef of Atlanta's popular global soul food restaurant "Oreatha's At The Point" said the beans were a part of how his family brought in the new year when he was growing up in Chicago. "..

Also, the easiest way is to use AI for book recommendations and summary.

Just ask AI to recommend books if you dont know what to read next.

Then ask AI to tell you summary of the book.

It will give you key points.

Then tell AI to tell you more about those points, so that you get some details too.
