I know many people say you are not supposed to overclock a laptop because heat can destroy it.

I guess I am the kind of person who takes risks.

However, I know my laptop can handle heat well, since it gets really hot sometimes.

Also, it freezes and shuts down if heat is too much, so damage is avoided.

So I decided to overclock it to get that extra frame rates in games.

I have to say, I never did overclocking before, but it seems that there is an ideal overclock where laptop doesnt get too hot and slows down.

If you overclock too much, the heat will actually slow down laptop.

So now I only overclocked by 50 to 100 MHz  both core and memory.

That seems to be ideal. Overclocking more actually harms framerate.

Now, I cant undervolt since my laptop seems to be missing that option >.<

I know that there are many game booster programs and software, but each seems to be giving only small benefits.

So I decided to install bunch of game booster programs because I figured if each gives small boost, together it may add up to something more.

And it did. My games now seem to have more decent frame rate with these strategies.

Its not great boost in frame rate, its just more decent than before.

Some laptops you can literally buy already being overclocked.  I think it shortens the lifespan a bit but isn't too harmful. With that said, why not just get a desktop and do it?

I bought a used laptop. It wasnt overclocked. It even had integrated graphics which I had to figure out how to disable.

Its only harmful if you play games all day so GPU is always at 100 degrees temperature. If you play a game for an hour or two a day, it shouldnt be that big of an issue.

I am not someone who has lots of money. I cant afford to have smartphone, PC, TV and laptop. I have to save for future too, since all these need to be replaced when they stop working.

Maybe laptop wasnt the best choice when it comes to gaming, but I hate bothering with desktop PC. Laptops are easier to use and move, and take very little space. There is some joy in that, being able to use it anywhere.

I found a good way to control heat on my laptop.

In power plan, I set maximum processor rate to 80%.

That reduces heat greatly and doesnt seem to reduce performance, but it enables more overclock.

Now, I need to see if I can overclock CPU as well. Right now I just overclock graphic card and it produced some really good results with no overheating.

Of course, some high demanding games still struggle.

Also, my laptop for some stupid reason has 2 graphic cards but poorly programmed and I realized that it sometimes for some reason uses weaker graphic card. I must select to open with better graphic card, and then I see great improvement in graphics.

If I disable integrated graphic card, many games improve, but some stop working and freeze for some reason.

I think instead of putting 2 graphic cards, they should have put just 1 better one, because I cant use 2 graphics anyway, and the weaker one seems to be screwing with me.
