What is your favorite movie, and why?

--spoilers for Everything Everywhere All at Once and Bullet Train--

I'll go first: Everything Everywhere All at Once.

I love movies that have heart. Movies that are well made, have tons of action, but action with purpose. Another good example of this in my opinion is Bullet Train. Although not as good, Bullet Train has an overall fun and action-packed story with a reason for the action; it also has morals of luck and karma.

circling back to Everything Everywhere, it tells the story of a struggling mother who isn't good at anything useful to her. Her relationship with her daughter and husband is dwindling. Her life changes when she is selected as a last resort by a parallel universe version of her husband to stop a villain aiming to destroy the multiverse. the villain turns out to be a parallel version of her daughter, whos mind has been shattered across the multiverse. The mother voluntarilly shatters her own mind in order to save her daughter, to relate to her daughter for once in their life.

overall, I think Everything Everywhere All at Once is a beautiful movie and a must-watch.

what about yall?

The Shawshank Redemption - great story, great acting, and movies about forging a deep friendship seem to be a favorite of mine…

Jeon Woo-chi: The Taoist Wizard

Why?

Its a comedy about a wizard from Pyongyang who battles demons who have powers way beyond that of humans. Wizard also has powers which are very great but its not magic like in Harry Potter but more like illusions and conjuration magic.

Probably the best movie ever made.

An unheard of movie called poor white trash.

I was an extra in the movie "Hudsucker Proxy" though and it is also really great and not talked about much.

Original Blade Runner..Harrison Ford { 1982 } was so far ahead >>>>>>>> future

Cinematic....love a good sci-fi.....Do Android Dream of Electric Sheep { Philip K Dick }....mystery....good story line.....the Music { go to time 1:48 }....to see alternative Artificial General  Intelligence in 1982  from a conceptual idea in book of 1968 etc.......Woman >< Man piano........Cutting edge sci-fi detective imagery see the above music link......there is more to this list just cant bring it to fore front no

Deep into the mind, not just Star Wars good and bad warriors, yet not some philosophical setting of two people talking to each other the whole movie.

Cyrano de Bergerac (1950)

I enjoyed reading it as a book/play,
And think this version captured it well,
The black and white color has an enjoyable effect for me,
I like the themes of duels, fights, war, love, intrigue, poetry, wit, humor, tragedy, gall, the characters.
. . .

I enjoyed Bullet Train, fun seeing the characters places in the story get pieced together.
Had good music, humor, fight scenes, enjoyable/interesting dialogues between characters, whether childerens shows about tank engines being used to gauge people or coping with bad experiances in life.
Water bootle was a real breakout character.

Everything At Once, maybe it's because it's one of the parade of movies my Dad had me watch when I was with him, but I didn't enjoy it that much.
I also don't enjoy specific tropes in some reality warping stories, I don't tend to enjoy multiverse, Though I did enjoy Jet Li's The One (2001).
I admit Everything At Once 'did have some funny parts, and held my attention while I watched it, wanting to know what was happening, invested into the characters and plot.
Had humor and concepts that could relate to people's lives and make them think.

I like the "obtuse" scene,
Always 'seemed to me that the Warden did not know what obtuse meant the first time, and later looked it up in the dictionary by the 2nd scene it was used.

Has a good amount of stories and characters, well defined with many having their own motivations and arcs.
Commentary on prisons and the people in them.

Movie 'did have a lot to consider,
Often the 'purpose of Sci Fi genre I suppose,
Ideas of future might be's, worth considering rammifications before they 'are.

Cyrano de Bergerac (1950)

Rob Roy my favorite sword play film, tho  no clever poetry during the sword play --that part was great---.  That parts was certainly a crowd pleasing for most, I presume

The current future is AI and AGI as of present now and past Phillip K Dick ---basis for Blade Runner---- that had it all in so many respects.

I've seen bits of Sling Blade on Youtube, looks an enjoyable movie Mmm Hmm.

Guy has a good heart, and doesn't seem as dumb as his mannerisms imply.
. . .

The Devils Rejects, probably too messed up for my tastes.
