Meanwhile, RFK Jr. has thrown his support behind Donald Trump, seeking to prevent what he views as the degraded Democratic Party from maintaining control of the White House. As we enter the final stretch before November, the political theater is in full swing. Many passionate but perhaps naive individuals believe that their party holds the key to America's future, thinking their vote will steer the country toward their preferred social outcomes. However, the partisan divide in America has reached an intensity not seen in over 150 years, and the majority of Americans can no longer find common ground. The political landscape has shifted from a battle between left and right to one of perceived good versus evil, where compromise seems impossible.
What many Americans fail to grasp is that Congress and the president are not the primary drivers of the laws that govern the country. Instead, it's corporations like Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Amazon, AT&T, Alphabet, Pfizer, and lobbying groups like AIPAC that effectively write the laws. Senators and congressmen are often just there to rubber-stamp legislation crafted by these powerful interests. The government, despite the lip service it pays to the people, has not been "of the people, by the people, for the people" for a very long time. What we're witnessing in the lead-up to November is largely theater, designed to distract the public from the real workings of power in Washington, D.C.
In reality, most legislation is subcontracted to K Street, the hub of lobbyists in D.C., who craft laws on behalf of their clients—clients like big pharmaceutical companies, defense contractors, and even foreign governments. These lobbyists then sell their legislation to the elected officials who are supposed to represent their constituents' interests. But instead, these officials often act in the interests of those who fund their campaigns and offer them perks. When you vote for a representative or senator, you're not choosing someone who will write laws; you're choosing someone who will either approve or disapprove of laws written by lobbyists. Essentially, you are electing a hostage negotiator to the stage set by corporate lobbyists. D.C. has become the legislative arm of big business and global finance, rather than a government that truly serves the American people.
