This is a question I've been thinking about recently, but honestly, I don't think there is a right answer. What are your opinions on this?

That’s just about the most stereotypical WyIted thing to say.

Like my girlfriend always tells me, size doesn't matter. If the government does a good thing that is good, If the government does a bad thing that is bad.

Are you asking how many people should be paid to make national decisions and administer the national purse?

Regional decisions and administration?

Local decisions and administration?

Sort of a ratio of public employees to public.

Which would therefore also include Armed Forces, Police and Security Forces and  any other service provider that is paid from the public purse.

So what sort of staffing numbers are we looking at, that would allow us to differentiate between "Big or Small" ?

The U.S. is reasonably low at approximately 13% of population.

The U.K. runs at approximately 22%.

India in contrast runs at approximately 4%.

Russia at about 40%

The left: We need to spend a lot of money to get a lot of nutritious high quality groceries.

The right: We need to cut grocery spending to save money.  We are racking up a high enough credit card bill.

Me: Give me both of your proposed shopping lists.

The left/right: NO!!  We know it's unpopular; it's why we keep it hidden.

Small for economics. Government intervention in the economy is usually awful most of the times
Big for society and law making. Government should have strict control over its population as well as having a large justice and police system to keep order

Democracy should be replaced as well with some semidemocratic aristocracy, something in between that it isn't full democracy nor full dictatorship as both are detrimental for the country.
