The feds have 32 Tb of data currently held hostage by a Russian hacking group. (All Russian hacking groups are unofficially sponsored by their government, not directed just a silent agreement to only choose western targets)

We will never know how much they get paid to unencrypt this data, but my guess is 50 million.

Just disconnect from internet and no one can hack you unless you install games full of viruses.

Just use local network.

Also, paying a hacker who hacked you is very dumb. Like, it just encourages even more hacking and rewards literal villains.

Also, paying a hacker who hacked you is very dumb. Like, it just encourages even more hacking and rewards literal villains.
The government has considered making it illegal to disincentivize paying ransomware groups but then companies will still pay. I want my data safe even if it means paying a ransomware group. Maybe if you don't want to lose millions of dollars you operate a bit more securely, but don't punish me, your customer by not paying the group. 


There is also another problem with airhapped networks like you are talking about. 

The CIA triangle has 3 things you try to do as a security professional.

1. Keep data confidential

2. Integrity- make it so you can trust the data. It hasn't been altered

3. Availability

You violate the A part of the CIA triad by making the information unavailable.  

It also violates the principle of being able to safely operate in a hostile environment.

You can still hack it
I meant local network, the old style cable connection between computers, so unless someone comes in and plugs his computer in, there is pretty much no way to access it, since its not on internet.

For clarity sake, in most cases, I presume that a ' hacker ' is not equal in status to a ' tax collector '.  Apples and Oranges so to say.

There is word/label when one does a .. ' they are guilty by association, if only in psychological terms, to some degree '....

Clarity looks for making tclear the distinctions, between those items of commonality that may overlap and intersect to some degree in some ways and not in others.

Yes I do, and you appear to have missed that part of two parts i was refering to. Try again as ive put those two in bold to assist in making the the distinction of the analogy that works and the part that may mislead ergo  Apples is not an Oranges, yet both are in vegtable kingdom, are fruits, and spherical as a commonality.

Clarity looks for making clear the distinctions, between those {Part 1 Apples } items of commonality that may overlap and intersect to some degree in some ways and { Part 2 Oranges } not in others.

Clarity often takes more time and effort, that, we all fall short on, ergo, the need for many reply and response posts, sometimes. We see this happenning on all forums all of the time.

Some parts of analogy are a 1:1 ratio and other parts may not be, as is in the case above.

I think you belief system wants a " tax collector " to have same status as  a " hacker " holding your information for ransom.
 
Perhaps Im mistaken yes they share some commonalities as does a and Apple and an Orange, Veggatiable, fruit and spherical, yet they are not equal in status.

These woke globalists have so much data on us!  They are using it to invade our privacy like finding out what items we might want to buy (they hacked into our minds!!!).  The globalists have so much power, that we should not raise their taxes because that would be socialism (and only something a communist country would do; tax the globalists).
