TOWN WINS
Sucks that this game didn’t go on longer. Austin basically hard threw the game since the beginning. Mafia had a good half an hour to an hour before I began DP1 to ask the me the questions for the games. It was clear from the previous game that claiming your game was going to be SOP. Mafia for some reason did not utilize this early on. Still, there were reasonable fake claims to use in 13RW like Visitor, Bleeder, Virgin, even Messenger. You could’ve even gone with Miller, but it had to be early on. Austin messed up with the Miller claim, and town rightfully punished him for it. SOP is SOP, period. You can’t go in the middle of the DP and yolo Miller.
What also sucked was that Austin claimed the game JoeBob was from, which was a rookie mistake. JoeBob just went with it, which sucked. For all the noobs, it’s okay if you let your experiences scum partner take the lead, but you should not be afraid to push back and sanity check the plans. You knew that you were going to have to claim your game, but neither of you even prepared for it, which sucked. US Governors had a decent number of fake claims: Tracker, Miller, Purifier. Here are potential fake claims from the games that weren’t in this game
Bakugan - 2x Redirector
Mahabharata - Apportioner, Gambler, Deceiver
The Heroes of Olympus - Lightning Rod, Dreamer, Millionaire
Severe miscalculation by Austin though, which sucked because he was doing fine. The mistake was switching the games around and trying to cover for JoeBob. Props to JoeBob for not conceding the game after DP1. I definitely would’ve, but he still tried knowing that it was a losing cause. He tried with the White Mage, but Moozer was the Doctor anyways, so he would’ve been CCed.
The moral of this game is that as scum, you need to be prepared and think through everything town could do to unmask you. Furthermore, you need to sanity check all the possible consequences of any strategy you want to pursue in the game. A little more thought would’ve gone a long way. Communicate with your partner; that’s the main advantage you have against the town.
On the town side, major props to Savant. He was the steady presence after the Miller claim from Austin. Wylted had JoeBob and Austin early on in the game from a behavioral perspective, so props to him as well. Savant did an excellent job leading town as the unCCed cop. Austin almost pulled his way out with Luna’s help, but wasn’t unable to convince Savant and WF, which was crucial. You guys know me—I would’ve crucified the Miller immediately especially with the amount of time remaining.
I thought the balance was fair, but cant really determine it because the game ended in 2 DPs. Feel free to let me know what you all think about the balance. My gut says it’s a bit townsided, but could be swingy and help scum as well so. All in all, GGs!
