Trump was convicted of falsifying business records, which normally is a misdemeanor. No worse than and actually less serious than shop lifting. It only becomes felonious when fraud was also committed. The jury I think didn't agree what fraud was committed, just that there was fraud.

So it looks like the reasoning is circular... it's fraud, just because it's fraud. It's a felony, just because it's a felony.

It's all a joke anyways. Who cares if he trying to hide hush money? It's like Bill Clinton lying about a blow job. Who really cares? At most its just a technicality, cause dems r weak politically.

I don't even support trump. But I can call a witch hunt a witch hunt when I see it

It's often the case when the government wants to make an example.

Like resisting arrest -> why were you arrested? = for resisting arrest -> wouldn't have resisted arrest if I wasn't arrested, what was I arrested for? -> etc...

Who cares if he trying to hide hush money?
No one really cares, they are just pretending to care because they are deranged with hatred instilled in them by the propaganda they consume.

It's like Bill Clinton lying about a blow job. Who really cares?
I care 1000 times more about a public official choosing to lie rather than remain silent vs an accountant selecting "legal expense" in a dropdown menu when categorizing a payment to a lawyer which that lawyer invoiced with no itemization.

Which is to say I don't care all that much, just about relative size.

non-itemized business payments ~0.1
Clinton adultery ~ 10
Whether or not the weather is nice ~ 50
Clinton lying ~ 100
Getting a good gift for father's day ~ 200
a cops getting away with arresting someone for giving them the middle finger ~ 10,000
mandated experimental medical treatments ~ 1,000,000
violating the bill of rights to sabotage American democracy ~ 1,500,000
Stealing half the stuff from a whole nation causing ever increasing poverty, homelessness, depression, broken families, and population decline ~ 3,000,000

But I can call a witch hunt a witch hunt when I see it

It is a felony if, as the jury found here, the actions are used to cover up or conceal a crime.
No worse than and actually less serious than shop lifting. It only becomes felonious when fraud was also committed. The jury I think didn't agree what fraud was committed, just that there was fraud.
Nonsense, the jury unanimously agreed that Trump was guilty of committing 34 specific cases of fraud with the intent to defraud the American people by concealing information about the character and conduct of a presidential candidate.

So it looks like the reasoning is circular... it's fraud, just because it's fraud. It's a felony, just because it's a felony.
Nope, it's fraud because the law in New York defines those actions as fraud, and it's a felony because New York law states that it is a felony if done with the intent to cover up or conceal a crime.

It's all a joke anyways. Who cares if he trying to hide hush money? It's like Bill Clinton lying about a blow job. Who really cares? At most its just a technicality, cause dems r weak politically.
Trump wouldn't always say the elections are rigged if it didn't matter, he says that to work his base up into enough of a frenzy to attempt a violent insurrection. Turns out, the only person to have rigged an election is Trump in 2016.  He was found guilty of 34 felony counts for defrauding the American voters, that's not a joke.  Given that he worked his supporters into a murderous frenzy by saying an election was rigged with absolutely no evidence, I think guilty of 34 felony counts beyond a reasonable doubt is serious.

I don't even support trump. But I can call a witch hunt a witch hunt when I see it
LOL, yeah, Trump is the victim, Trump is always the victim, if the witch hunt doesn't work we can always fall back on our Jewish space lasers.

to cover up or conceal "a crime."

they made up "a crime." A crime that was never proven. They were not even allowed to bring a witness to defend against the implication (implication because it wasn't an actual charge) of a campaign finance violation.

Which was another example of oath-breaking corruption from the psuedojudge. He claimed it was a matter of law so that meant it wasn't subject to expert witness, it was his decision whether NDAs were illegal.

Yet if he had decided that without doubt NDAs were illegal, then Cohen should be charged with a campaign finance violation. He was not. No one was.

So apparently the new theory is that state judges can simply assume people are guilty of federal crimes. No facts need be presented nor can evidence against that presumption be introduced. Most importantly federal judges may not review this decision of federal law.

This is their "rule of law". Italian fascists of the 30s would not be so brazen.

That’s dumb. Trump falsified business records to cheat in an election. That makes it a felony. Attempting to win an election by fraudulent means is a crime in New York.

Ok, so cops are corrupt for charging someone with resisting arrest. We shouldn’t have that as a crime. Got it. MAGA MORONS are soft on crime when it’s not black people being arrested. If they’re black, then a cop is fine choking them out.

Oh pulease, it was one of the most scrutinized legal actions in history, if you just make up a psychodrama about it that won't change the facts.

"the more you indict, the more we UNITE"
Relax, he only has 88 indictments and a mere 34 convictions, there are still 54 more to go.

I get it, his minions think that since he's the crime boss of the republican party he should be above the law, but he lost that lawsuit, he has to face the consequences of his criminal actions.

Trump is constantly facing criticism for repeatedly harnessing rhetoric once used by Adolf Hitler to argue that immigrants entering the U.S. illegally are “poisoning the blood of our country,” Trump insisted he had no idea that one of the world’s most reviled and infamous figures once used similar words. The Nazi dictator spoke of impure Jewish blood “poisoning” Aryan German blood to dehumanize Jews and justify the systemic murder of millions during the Holocaust.

Yes, H.L. Mencken once described representative democracy as a system where “intellectually inferior men dominate their superiors.”

The inferior rise in our political system because they have no scruples, no conscience and will say anything, no matter how vile, hateful and untruthful. The truth means nothing to them. They want to stir up the ignorant to demand they be given dictatorial powers.

With the parties likely to nominate candidates who only 40 percent of the electorate view favorably, getting to 50 percent will be a difficult challenge for both, especially when the parties themselves can’t reach the 40 percent mark.
But building favorables is key to developing trust and support. As we watch elected officials in Washington struggle to meet voter expectations, it is no wonder the electorate is so unfavorable to the parties and the presidential candidates, and why almost three quarters believe the country is on the wrong track.
This kind of prolonged negative environment causes voters to tune out and lose faith in our political process. For all the talk about threats to democracy, this is a real threat to democracy that is getting very little attention.
