TOWN WINS

I thought the balance for this game was pretty good. It sucks that Whiteflame didn’t get to use the Neutralizer role because the roleblock was needed after Savant’s death. I thought Whiteflame did a really good job even after his buddy got lynched DP1. Barney and Moozer didn’t do any favors by getting lynched either.

I think Whiteflame played perfectly except for NP3. I personally would have killed JoeBob since he’s the only confirmed person. A reasonable case could be made against Lunatic or Austin (both actually suspected each other even after DP2). Whiteflame could definitely have convinced Austin—and he did, which would have resulted in the victory. Leaving noob alive is definitely a two way street. I would have definitely lynched Lunatic. The behavior. was just so much like last game. It’s very conceivable that Lunatic could have asked if a Super Saint was in the game or not.

That leads me to my next thing. I really like the 2 character and 2 role claim mechanic I came up with. It forced mafia to do research and also helps them come up with a suitable justification, rather than me as a mod putting in all the work.

The Super Saint claim was a huge gamble, especially with the above mechanic from my perspective. If Mafia had a Tactician or something, it would have supremely backfired, which is why Austin, town should stick to their claims. I was surprised scum didn’t even consider that he could be fake claiming that especially in a 9P game. But scum definitely have no reason not to believe town either. Also to answer Lunatic’s question he asked me in PM of whether I would consider giving scum a lynch preventing role, I definitely would assuming it wouldn’t be game breaking. Austin’s role couldn’t work at MYLO or LYLO and that’s how I would design it if I have scum that role.

Savant, it really sucked that you got lynched DP1. Based on your presence in the scum chat, you have a bright future ahead with respect to scum play. Just remember the golden role—let town keep making mistakes. Inactivity hurts town far more than it hurts scum. No need to fluff post or do anything like that. Also, you need to be very careful what you say. Remember that you have knowledge that town doesn’t have, so double and triple check what you post.

Also, I was sad that no one commented about the videos I posted. They were kinda teasers to people and their roles for the most part. Other times it was just cool moments I remembered.

One last thing—Lunatic was spot on about Whiteflame’s role. VIP makes absolutely no sense for Arjuna. I left the claim open because you could come up with a plethora of fake claims for him because he is one of the main characters of the epic.

Anyways, thanks for playing everyone, and as usual, I am open to any critiques on roles, balancing, etc.

TOWN:

Lunatic - Nakula - In the ancient Indian epic Mahabharata, you, Nakula, one of the five Pandava brothers, were renowned for your exceptional knowledge and skills in the field of medicine. You were well-versed in the traditional system of Ayurveda, possessing a deep understanding of the medicinal properties of herbs, minerals, and other natural substances for treating various ailments. Your expertise extended beyond human medicine, as you were also highly skilled in treating and caring for horses, which were crucial for transportation and warfare during that era. Thus, you are the Apportioner. Each night, you may target someone. If your target is killed on that night, that person's life will be extended and they will survive until the next night. Once you successfully extend one player's life, you will lose their ability. You win with the Town.

Austin - Dhristadyumna - You, Dhrishtadyumna, son of King Drupada, played an absolutely critical role as the supreme commander of the mighty Pandava army during the cataclysmic Kurukshetra War. Your crowning achievement was the meticulously calculated strategy that culminated in the slaying of the formidable Drona - the revered military preceptor of the Kaurava army whose skills were unmatched. However, your life ultimately met a tragic end when the vengeful Ashwatthama, Drona's son, launched a cowardly attack on you while you were sleeping. Because you were undefeated during the day and killed at night, you are the 1x Lynchproof. During one day, you may choose to become lynchproof. If a majority of the votes for you after using the ability during the day, you will survive, and the DP will continue. You may not use this ability at MYLO or LYLO. You win with the Town.

Moozer - Yudhishthira - You are the eldest of the Pandava brothers and know for your unwavering adherence to dharma and principles of righteousness. In the epic tale of the Mahabharata, your addiction to gambling reached its zenith during the infamous dice game with your cousin Duryodhana. Blinded by your overconfidence and lured by the thrill of the game, you staked and lost everything – your kingdom, wealth, and even your brothers and wife, Draupadi. This disastrous defeat not only plunged you and your family into exile but also sowed the seeds of the great Kurukshetra War. Yet, even in the aftermath of the catastrophic dice game, your resilience and commitment to dharma shone through. You embraced the consequences of your actions, going into exile. Thus, you are the Gambler. Each night, you may visit a player who you think will be eliminated the next day phase. If your guess ends up being correct, you will be rewarded with a 1x Commuter to be used on any night of your choice. You win with the Town.

Barney - Shikhandi - In your previous life as Amba, the eldest daughter of the king of Kashi, you were abducted by Bhishma, who intended to marry you to his half-brother Vichitravirya, who rejected you because you were in love with another prince. After you were released to your lover, your lover rejected you because you had been pledged to Vichitravirya. As a last resort, you asked Bhishma to be your husband, but Bhishma, bound by his vow of celibacy and loyalty to his kingdom, couldn't fulfill your wish. Feeling rejected and seeking revenge for her life being destroyed by Bhishma, you performed rigorous penance to Lord Shiva, who granted you a boon to be the cause of Bhishma's death. You were then reborn as Shikhandini, the daughter of King Drupada. During the Kurukshetra war, you wanted to fight but could not because you were a woman. Luckily, you were later transformed into a man through a divine boon granted by a Yaksha. Knowing Bhishma's vow not to fight women (done because of you), the Pandavas strategically placed you (now Shikhandi) in front of Arjuna during battle. Bhishma, respecting his vow, refused to attack Shikhandi, which allowed Arjuna to engage him in combat. With Shikhandi as a shield, Arjuna was able to pierce Bhishma with arrows, leading to his downfall. Thus, Shikhandi's past life vendetta and rebirth as a man were instrumental in Bhishma's defeat, fulfilling the prophecy and Amba's desire for vengeance. For this reason, you are the Compulsive Decoy. Each night, you must target a player to perform a "fake" night action that does nothing except register to any movement tracking roles i.e. Trackers, Watchers, Voyeurs, etc.. You win with the Town.

JoeBob - Vasudev Krishna - As Krishna, your divine nature as an avatar of Vishnu grants you extraordinary abilities, including omniscience. You possess the innate capability to perceive and comprehend everything happening in the universe, allowing you to track events, thoughts, and actions during the chaos of battle. From your position as the charioteer and advisor to Arjuna, you not only physically witness the battlefield but also spiritually attune yourself to its unfolding events. Your omniscience empowers you to offer strategic guidance to Arjuna, foreseeing outcomes and advising him accordingly. Furthermore, your divine sight enables you to discern the true intentions and inner workings of individuals, providing you with insight into their strengths, weaknesses, and motivations. This profound understanding allows you to navigate the complexities of the war and influence its course towards righteousness and dharma, guiding the Pandavas in their righteous cause. Thus, you are the Witness/Tracker. Each night, you may investigate a player and learn that player's alignment. If the targeted player is killed by the mafia, you will instead learn the role of a randomly chosen player from the mafia. Alternatively, you may select a player. You will learn who they visited that night. You win with the Town.

Vader - Ghatotkach - Your tragic fate was sealed during the Kurukshetra war. Knowing the powers of his son, Bhima called upon you to engage in battle against the Kaurava forces. You fought valiantly and wreaked havoc on the enemy ranks, but ultimately fell victim to the tactics of Karna. Karna, realizing the threat posed by Ghatotkacha, used the divine weapon, Vasavi Shakti, to slay you. Ghatotkacha's sacrifice was significant in weakening the Kaurava army, but it came at the cost of his own life. Unbeknownst to you though, Vasudev Krishna had planned this in the first place. The Shakti was the only weapon Karna had that could defeat Arjuna, and with its single usage here, Arjuna was safe. Essentially, you were a victim of Krishna’s plan. Thus, you are the Victim. Each night, you may target another player. If that player performs a negative action (feel free to ask me about roles that count as negative vs positive) on anyone that night, it will be redirected onto you. The mafia faction kill cannot be redirected by you. You win with the Town.

Earth - Bhima - Recognizing Dronacharya's unmatched skills as a warrior and his unwavering loyalty to his beloved son, Ashwatthama, you devised a clever plan to exploit his affection and trust. Knowing that Dronacharya's love for his son was his greatest weakness, you, along with your brothers and Krishna, conspired to create a deceptive illusion. Krishna instructed Yudhishthira to falsely announce Ashwatthama's death, accompanied by the elephant's name, to confuse Dronacharya. As the war raged on, you engaged Dronacharya in combat, but despite your formidable strength, you realized that defeating him in a fair fight would be nearly impossible. Seizing the opportunity presented by Krishna's plan, you proclaimed loudly that "Ashwatthama is dead!" Your voice was drowned out by the sounds of war, but Dronacharya caught the words and approached Yudhishthira to confirm the news. Yudhishthira, bound by his adherence to truth, affirmed the statement but muttered "the elephant" under his breath, ensuring that Dronacharya only heard part of the truth.Filled with grief and disbelief, Dronacharya's resolve wavered, and he lost the will to fight. Taking advantage of the situation, you, along with your brothers, launched a fierce attack on Dronacharya, overwhelming him with sheer force and numbers. In his moment of vulnerability, Dhristadyumna struck him down. Though your actions may be considered deceitful, they were driven by the necessity of war and the desire to achieve victory against a formidable opponent. Thus, you are the Deceiver. Each night you may target a player. If that player dies sometime before the next night phase, they will be revealed as any other currently living player (randomly chosen at the time of death). This can only happen once in the game. You win with the Town.

SCUM:

Whiteflame - Jayadratha - In a moment of desperation, you sought the favor of Lord Shiva through rigorous penance, hoping to gain a powerful boon to aid you in battle. Impressed by your devotion, Shiva granted your request, bestowing upon you the boon of being able to hold at bay all the Pandava warriors except Arjuna for a single day in battle. This seemingly invincible power filled you with confidence and arrogance, believing yourself to be untouchable on the battlefield. Your power helped stop the four Pandavas and allow Abhimanyu’s death inside the Chakravyuh arranged by Dronacharya. Effectively, you neutralized the four brothers by being strong enough to fight all of them in battle at once. Even more cleverly, you helped prevent Arjuna from breaking the Chakravyuh by diverting him to another part of the battlefield--effectively preventing all five brothers from saving their son Abhimanyu. Thus, you are the Neutralizer + Roleblocker. Each night, you may target another player and either learn their role or perform the mafia kill on that player, bypassing any potential preventive or protective powers that they may have if they have already been investigated by you. Alternatively, you may select to roleblock a person. Essentially, if you night kill a person you have already rolecopped, your night kill is unstoppable or you may roleblock a player each night. You win with the Mafia.

Savant - Karna - You are the son of Surya Deva. Everyone thought you were the son of a charioteer, but in reality, you were the eldest brother of the Pandavas. Even after finding this out, you decided to fight for the Kauravas because Duryodhana was the only one who respected you and called you a friend by gifting you the Kingdom of Anga. Your duty to your friends was greater than your duty to dharma which ended up being your cause of defeat. Even though you knew you were the son of Kunti, you successfully kept this information hidden from everyone and quietly kept fighting for the Duryodhana, eventually being defeated by Arjuna. Because of the fact you were a Pandava yet fought for the Kauravas and kept this status hidden from everyone, you are the Odd Night Godfather/Even Night Ninja. On odd nights, you will appear as innocent to all investigations. On even nights, if you conduct the factional night kill, it will not show up on any watcher, tracker, voyeur, etc reports. You win with the Mafia.

Interesting times. In retrospect, never would've gone with my goofy Super Saint gambit if I realized that scum could also use the questions to verify the existence of a role.

Regarding my choice to not fight the lynch… I stand by it. Had I talked my way out of that for a day, I would have still been sus, and the later it gets, the less you want an easy mislynch around.

Thanks for the game dude, it was a good time. And yeah, wish I’d gone with Austin going through to the final DP in the end. Made call on who I thought I could convince and called it wrong. Also, it was a real coin flip whether we’d NK Earth or JoeBob in that first NP. Would’ve made things a lot easier if we’d hit right.

Wait how did NP2 actions get resolved?

JoeBob - Track Moozer
Vader - Victim JoeBob
Whiteflame - RB JoeBob & NK Vader
Joebob should've gotten a result because kills resolve last: i.e:

-whiteflame's roleblock gets redirected to Vader
-Joebob gets a result
-Vader dies

Right?

Gg. And yes I was pissy because of Austin’s whole super saint confirming lunatic thing after I should have already been confirmed so sorry I was a bit short with you Joebob. But I felt I couldn’t have been more town confirmed at that point, basically almost suicided to prove a point to Austin, I wouldn’t have done that as scum. Figured the Whiteflame lynch should have been insanely obvious. Anyways you made the right choice in the end. Great game set up and balance imo, just frustrating play from Austin.

Yeah, obviously I wasn't putting in a whole ton of effort by the end since I wasn't actually playing, but you had a fair chance of convincing me. The similarities between Luna's behavior here and in Chess Mafia were just too glaring.

Tbh I was going a different direction before I saw that everyone had claimed. I figured Arjuna was a lock to be in the game, and when I noticed that no one had claimed him, I just went for the first role that made some sense without being obviously off. I’d initially planned on Sahadeva as Backup (that was actually before I saw your claim, so I lucked into choosing the right twin), but changed my mind in hopes that Arjuna would look better. Don’t think it would have made a ton of difference in the end.

Vader had to target the person who is conducting the roleblock (Whiteflame), not the person being roleblocked (JoeBob). But in your hypothetical, JoeBob wouldn’t have been roleblocked, so he would get a result. Vader would be roleblocked as a part of his role mechanic. Vader would still die
