To stop low quality debate spammers.

Also to safeguard against a bruteforce spam DDOS attack meaning they'd need to orchestrate the debates ending not just starting, to pull it off.

That's a good question. What would really be justification in limiting the number unless it was to not monopolize I suppose.

I would say to prevent monopolization.

I've been searching topics that are of interest to me and finding some older discussions by those with names crossed off (whatever that means) who provided far better substantive positions grounded in the real world and not sexual twisted fantasy perversions Best.Korea has constantly posted about. And the tit for tat back and forth nonsense he/she posts is nothing more than childish banter. 

I want to see an adult conversation by adults, not children.

There is a rule here about a concept known as cross-thread contamination.

I am not a mod or authority here or I'd be handling this all in private. I tell you publicly so the mods see there is no threat and clear transparency.

Report and discuss with mods the user(s) that cause you distress here. That's not a wrong or pathetic snitchy approach with real trolling. They may not actually enough on it, however it's all you can do. You have the power to quit this tiny site if they don't love up to your standards of moderating.
