So I wanted to start an egg farm, and I finally got the chickens.

I gave them some dandelions, some green plants I found.

I also gave them catkins and apple, but they werent as interested.

I was told that because they were fed with certain food, it will take them some time to get used to food I give them.

I also give them grains.

They havent yet started laying eggs.

Its gonna take some time.

My goal is to feed them with variety of food, and give them plenty of water.

I dont have raspberries yet, or strawberries grown, so I think a bought apple or some other fruit will have to be for now.

No, I didnt get a rooster yet, but I just might because people are basically giving them away for free.

He is not needed for egg production tho, and I am not gonna use chickens for meat, so its a bit of a question if I should or should not get rooster.

Free second generation but the reason to rarely do the mating meaning not every urn around himyear but only mingle a couple at a time is because it's morally problematic if your eggs are abortions rather than periods (for vegetarians rather than vegans and others who also don't eat lamb or veal as they oppose baby slaughter)

My biggest problem is that I will have to constantly check eggs.

I dont wanna open an egg and find dead chick in it.

Also, selling such an egg to anyone would mean that someone will never buy from me again.

Without rooster, you get unfertilized eggs which dont even contain a chick and never would anyway.

Its the closest thing to vegan chicken egg there is.

However, I am slightly worried that seller sold me some roosters.

Its hard to tell difference between male and female chickens when they are young.

So if I got some roosters, then its irrelevant, but if they are all female chickens, then I have a choice to get or not get rooster.

I am kinda split between having rooster and getting free chickens and being forced to check eggs all the time, or have no rooster but being forced to buy new chickens when these stop producing.

They usually produce eggs for 2 or 3 years, but they can live up to 10 years.

Vegetarian animal farming is very hard, since farms which slaughter animals always have an advantage, in terms of cost and profit.

I am saying get a rooster if you want a cheap second generation but be careful not to overload yourself, you need to split the game into a actions and leave the rooster with only a few at a time.

Or you can just not care and sell eggs fast hopikg they're eaten before they turn to chicks. Plus it's only during spring towards summer you need to fully worry about it in western climates, I assume you don't actually live in or near Korea. If you do, then it's more complex as the spring season is not that different in temperature there, more in humidity.

I've kept Chickens, and they are a faff.

It's much cheaper to buy eggs.

Depends on what you feed them and how you get it.

I feed mine wheat, corn, dandelions, catkins...

I even plan to enable them to catch grasshoppers once grasshoppers appear.

A lot of their food can come from nature.

Or you can grow food for them.

But if you are only feeding them bought food and keep them in cage so they cant forage, you cant really expect much profit because cost of your buisness is high.

Split the farm into sections

I said "split the game into actions" this was a typo that got autocorrected

Dandelion flowers and greens.

They seem to eat most of it, especially the flowers.

And since dandelions grow for free in my yard, the only work is 5 minutes it takes to collect them.

Chickens do seem to eat grass which is available in their fenced area.

I gave them a small area on land so they can feed on it.

But I still bring them edible plants I find in other places on my land.

Split the farm into sections
Every split, every fence, costs money.

I had to pay to completely secure chickens from both air and land predators.

But my farm is currently small. I have less than 20 chickens.

There is not much to split.

I do plan to build another fenced area for a new chicken coop, but I first have to see how this one turns out.

I thought you said air at first, lol, I actually didn't think of that issue. Many areas you don't have to worry about birds attacking them, that's bad luck.

Soon you can have scrambled eggs for breakfast, or if you are in Alabama, scrambled chickens.

So where do you get wheat and corn from.

Do you grow that?

And the more space you set aside for hens, the less space you will have for fruit and veg.

As I said, I've been there and done that, and I soon realised that keeping hens didn't make economic sense.

Nonetheless, I wish you luck with your latest venture.

I bought chickens.
Isn't that what Trump says about the Republican Party?
