Is the most common preferable way out is in sleep?

Does that take the sting out of the finale?

I do fear it because it's irrational not to, however thinking about it constantly is a sign of the opposite, ironically.

Suicidal people often start off thinking a LOT about their death in a negative way and it ends up with them desiring it.

There is not a rational reason to not fear your death, your fear of it grounds you in sane limits to decisions and actions.

As I get older I consider death more and fear it less.

Death itself is a moment.

Suffering and mental anguish is another issue.

Do people actually fear death, or do they fear everything negative surrounding it. The opposite is true for wanting to live. Also people can conclude “positive” reasons why dying is better off. Anyway, when there’s a major imbalance in negatives (sad) thoughts, that’s when people become suicidal.

Edit: I just realised the last part was a truism

Its not the death that I fear.

I was non-alive (dead) for millions of years.

Its the dying that I fear.

Dying can be very painful.

I wouldn't fear death unless it's an early one.

People don't fear death but the unknown. Nobody knows what and how death is so they fear it, except for those who went through NDEs, they are fucking fearless.

Why did you put "going home" for this thread's keywords? Do you think there is an afterlife?

It is only human to fear death. According to nde literature, there is probably an afterlife and its probably a great experience. But, there's sufficient reason to believe it can be not what we want to experience, so this life and how we live matters.

I use to want to die in my sleep as my method when my time comes, but now I've realized I'm afraid of going to sleep and never being conscious of anything again... so now my preference is to die of a heart attack in a quick and not too painful way. Then my consciousness can float out of my body and up to heaven

Beliefs should go to the religion forum.

My guess is that you believe in the afterlife.

I fear it way less now. When you loose physical abilities it really sucks and is very limiting. I cant do 3/4 of the things I used to love to do. I have crossed over the fear of fear hump and now look more forward to it than fear it. I've lived a long crazy entertaining productive life with no regrets. I am ready to move on to whatever happens when one dies. I would probably feel different if I was filthy rich  and could  spend money on the things I still can do, but I am not.  Life is now about saving every dime for retirement so I don't live in abject poverty when I cant work anymore.

I’m a Christian man and I know where I’ll be after I die. I just want to experience a full life before I go.

You don't know where you'll be.
I understand you believe you'll be where you believe you'll be.

What does it mean to be a christian to you?

Are you born again of God?

Are you filled with the spirit of God?
