"According to European Environment Agency (EEA) early estimates, 22.5% of energy consumed in the EU in 2022 generated from renewable sources."

So the organization most dedicated to renewable energy couldnt get it right.

With only 22% of their energy being renewable, they have not only completely failed, but they are showing that even trying your best wont stop global warming. And they are the best!

Now, why cant we have renewable energy?

First, the problem is electricity.

The world runs on electricity.

However, there is no cheap way to produce electricity for 8 billion people plus countless factories.

The second problem is cars. Cars pollute the environment and cause global warming.

However, electric cars use lots of electricity, making it impossible to have lots of electric cars.

In other words, electricity is the problem.

World became so dependent on electricity that,

instead of abandoning it, which would almost immediatelly solve global warming,

They keep producing it.

However, electricity simply cannot be produced in any sustainable way.

Solar panels produce too little. Wind power produces too little.

So yeah, the problem at hand is with electricity itself.

Can humanity simply go back to era with no electricity?

Well, no. Thats why its called the point of no return. Once you discover it, you become dependent on it, and cannot survive without it.

This is what Marx describes as "negation". It is where one new thing negates the thing before it so the thing before it can no longer exist.

However, the bad news is that there is also "negation of negation".
It is the point of development where you can neither go back to how things were, nor you can keep things as they are right now.

And that point of development requires a 2nd negation. If that negation cannot be found, system collapses.

Marx was a fun guy.

Nuclear Fusion reactors will save the planet. They also don't generate any radioactive waste.
China's artificial Sun uses raw materials that are unlimited on Earth, and its latest breakthrough is a step forward toward the development of a nuclear fusion reactor. Nuclear fusion energy is called the ideal "ultimate energy" for the future of humanity because this form of energy is considered safer and cleaner.
According to the report, scientists have completed the engineering design of the China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor, which they aim to build in the future, and could be the "next-generation artificial Sun".

will save the planet.
Unlimited portable energy would mean people wouldn't necessarily need a planet (or a sun) anymore. They could synthesize anything they needed anywhere.

What makes people think the planet  needs saving? What makes people think they could do anything to save it from whatever they think it needs saving from? The planet will be here long after all humans are gone. The planet could care less about humanity. Humanity is just an annoying  dog dick nat to the planet if anything.

The biggest argument, I think, against "Republicans are singlehandedly blocking climate change mitigation progress" is the fact that not a single First World country has mostly transitioned to solar panels despite the GOP only having political power in the US, and despite the governing parties of Europe being far more liberal than the GOP on average.
If not one has actually done it after all these many decades of global warming doomsday headlines, that suggests it just isn't practical to scale. If we go by the broader "renewable energy" then maybe. But two of these, geothermal and hydroelectric, won't work to scale unless certain geographies are combined with certain low population densities. Wind power is also more conducive to some geographies than others. The last, nuclear, is hamstrung by onerous regulations that cause it to take years and years and years to commission a given plant. And NIMBYism gone wild limits the deployment of nuclear in most areas.

So long as First Worlders (along with the growing middle class in the Global South) consume on the level that we do, there is no easy solution. And 90%+ of us, regardless of political leaning, won't volunteer to consume drastically less for the rest of our lives, so we can rule that out.

The next best thing.

Has the habit of becoming,

The next worse thing.

Just saying.

And yet,

The Sun bombards us with enough energy in a day to power all our energy needs for a year.

And yet,

We always plough our efforts into the next best thing.

Progress I suppose.

Such is our demand for energy.

And our need to pay for it.

If we worked together,

It could be free.

HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa.

We cannot control the Earth, so we also cannot master the sun. The universe is far more chaotic in scale than the orderliness blip of mankind.

As George Carlin said: The Earth at any time can just shake us all off, like a bad case of fleas. And you are worried about "saving the planet???"

I never thought of Earth in that way. Now we must save it, even if it kills us all.

Hmmmm. A Zedku for GreyPu.

I certainly don't worry about it.

I consider such things occasionally.

And when I'm dead,

Soon,

I will cease considering.

And millions of years from now,

The Sun in it's death throws,

Will engulf the Earth.

So,

Nothing to worry about.
