Baphomet is not a bad demon.

Among many ridiculous charges  levelled against the Order of the Knights Templar was the worship of a bearded head that they called Baphomet. There is nothing at all surrounding this head that suggest anything "Satanic" apart from what the Church has attached to it.  Quite the contrary it suggests something   Messianic with 'Grail'  and Johannite connections.

The Mandaean sect of Southern Iraq are said to have forgiven John the Baptist for baptising Jesus believing that Jesus was the false Messiah, which I believe holds some water when the gospels are read with a keen eye. The Mandaeans were forced to convert to Islam... by the sword.

 The Templars are a fascinating subject to study and research and probably worth a thread of its own.
